AARP The Magazine regularly reports on great places to live on a modest income.  Some of the other criteria they use are access to nature and recreation, relative ease of getting around, quality health care systems, and a strong sense of community.

In 2021, Anderson SC was selected as one of the Best Places to Live and Retire. While 9 total areas were selected by AARP, I am going to tell you more about Anderson since that is also where I live!

Anderson SC has a median house price of around $250,000, which is very modest compared to most areas. While the house prices are modest, the services and recreation that are offered are not!

One of the draws is, of course, Lake Hartwell! With 963 miles of shoreline, Lake Hartwell stretches from Anderson SC to Georgia. The Lake is a man-made lake that covers almost 6000 acres! If you love lazy days on the lake, you will love this area. From boating, fishing, or camping, Lake Hartwell has so much to offer ( and it is beautiful too).

To those that are more into creativity, Anderson also has a vibrant arts community. Among the best places to visit for the arts are The Anderson Arts Center, Electric City Playhouse, and so much more.

Downtown Anderson has tons of festivals and entertainment as well. Stay tuned for more info on all there is to do and see in Anderson SC!!
